Admiral Paul A. Yost, Jr.-James Madison Fellowship

The Admiral Paul A. Yost, Jr.-James Madison Fellowship is a privately funded, $24,000 graduate fellowship to earn a master’s degree studying the Constitution offered nationwide to an individual who has honorably served in the U.S. military, who is a United States citizen, and who is a secondary level teacher or prospective teacher of American history, American government or civics.

This fellowship aims to encourage former members of the U.S. military to become outstanding teachers and to honor Admiral Paul A. Yost, Jr., who was the first president of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation and 18th Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. With this new education, the Admiral Paul A. Yost, Jr.-James Madison Fellow will be able to take this newfound knowledge into the classroom. The awardee of this fellowship will be required to follow all of the rules and regulations of a traditional James Madison Fellowship as outlined on the Foundation’s website.

In classrooms throughout the country, James Madison Fellows are at the educational forefront of the continuing effort to teach the history and principles of the Constitution.
